Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Well, thought it was about high time I put up a thread.
So here's my V progress thread so far.
Went and got myself this today with the help of an Athlone Sham.
Needs a wash, polish and general tidy up. Got a few things to do(starting tomorrow early) to it, to make it mine.
Then get it in for the test and see how we go.
Then let all the mods and personal touches begin.
I'll post more pics as I go.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Went out today and got a few bits done. Firstly I took out the 98/99 specs seats, split rear seats, 96 door cards and parcel shelf,
And fitted my interior from the S. Putting in the GT seats were a real f&$"in pain tho!!!
Took me and my boy almost an hour, and a few sore fingers.
Also swapped over the 98 rear lights, then changed the gearknobs and stereos over.
I'm hoping to get a few more bits done tomorrow,
but I've gotta go meet someone to pick up some parts and stuff.
So' we'll see how we go.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Well peeps,
Not been able to do much this week.
Finally got out and got it washed today, Still needs a wax and polish tho.
Got a few jobs to do tomorrow. 1st being, get the Locknuts off each wheel(got no key, and po has lost it!!)
Then fit new Passo CV joint(Cheers, Browner), and replace Passo door hinges.
Got a few plans for over the next while. Hopefully I'll have most of them done for the 1st of April meet!!
The front bumper is needing tightened on Passo side. and the Exhaust needs moved over slightly.
There are also some small jobs(mainly electrical) needing done on inside, but overall sit's is a tight clean little motor.
All just small jobs really, just need to find the time to get them done!!
I'm well happy with how she drives though, will be even better after I've changed the shock/springs and got my 2 Cusco Strut Braces on.
Here's some pics of hows it's looking at the moment.
C&C always appreciated.

Finally got the locknuts off yesterday (with the help of a Gas blowtorch, a 16mm socket and a Hammer).
Then Today, I changed the lights back to 96 spec, and also got the window tint removed.
Getting CV joint and door hinges done on Tuesday,.
Anyway, here's some pics.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Well,
I got a good bit done today,
Firstly I cleaned and hoovered out all the inside, then put in some temporary mats( till I get the one's I want).
Then I removed the WRC pedal covers, cos I wasn't too happy with the feel of them under my feet.
After this I moved to the outside, starting with adjusting the passo wiper arm; as it was sitting to high!!
Then I fitted some new wiper blades...Next came, removing the damaged Passengers side Quarter panel sticker,
which I did with the trusty old hairdryer.. and some petrol.
Lastly, I washed it down again, then T cut the whole car,
I'm well Happy with how it came out and weather permitting tomorrow, I'll wax it.
Only got a few pics, which are not the best quality, but they do show the T cut process.
But here they are anyhow...

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Got a few bits done over the past 2 days, so updating this.
Got my new steering wheel and boss last week, just having "REAL" problems getting old boss off.
Disconnected horn and got wiring back up to where it should be, Then touched up the paint on the Passo Quarter,
after removing the old f****d sticker. Also made myself a new boot floor out of some ply and an old boot carpet for extra insulation.
Got a few bits to pick up/fit this weekend and putting standard alloys back on.
And I've got a front and rear lip and front splitter on the way.
So for now I'm happy out..
Gettin it ready for test on Thursday,
Then we'll see what all needs done.
So here's some pics of what I've done so far, and what I'm planning on doing tonight.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Been a while since I updated this. Been busy with stuff at home, kids, home renovations etc;
but I've had a few jobs done though..And I've sourced a few parts, that I wanted to get and ones that were/are needed also.
Thanks to all who helped me out. You'se know who you are.
I had it in for the N.C.T, and it failed on a few things, so I'm trying to get them sorted just now as well.
I finally got the boss kit off, with a lot off blood, sweat, dust and tears.. (see pics),
And a 96 spec steering wheel on, with horn where it should be, and not down in the cig lighter port...
Turns out though, I'll have to get a 98 spec one, as my loom is different from the 96 wheel connectors.
The standard alloys are back on,
After a spin to Athlone for Tyres and a day full of discovery (see my other threads) with a Good Athlone sham.
I personally think it looks much better with them, but I've always liked the standard alloys though.
Also put in my new seats and mats, and some other interior bits.
Then finally on Wednesday I got my "PudgeBandit" Bonnet from the Silver S back on.
Getting my new Standard Mani, Turbo and Exhaust fitted tomorrow, and a few other things..
Other plans for the coming days are compounding my headlights, cleaning up the wheels, doing my bonnet strut,
cleaning up and painting the Grill Badge and giving it a good clean inside and out. (if the weather holds up).
Getting something done next week, that I think is gonna look well, but we'll see how that goes.
Also, gonna get new plugs, oil and filter next week and give it a good service.
Here's some pics of how it's looking just now.
C and C welcome and always appreciated.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Time to add a little update, cos it's been a bit.
Been busy trying to fix problems that needed solved for the NCT retest. And what a f*****g headache that's been.
Got my new Exhaust on last week (old 1 was in S***E) and fitted new Scoop during the week.
Stil got 6k HID'S still to go in.(All from Johny 1505)
Was having smoke problems aswell, so I had to get another Turbo...
I'm now on number 3, (Galen) and so far so good.
(Must give Johny 1505 a big thanks for the use of his garage and all his help).
Also got another 1 sitting here, should I need it in the future,
When I was in changing turbo and Mani, I found that my king lead/ Dizzy cap were f****d,(see pic)
So, Thanks again to Johny1505 and Galen, I got these parts, just need to fit them now.
After I get my NCT, this week hopefully.
I've got the front and rear Cusco struts and Rear OEM Lip to put on.
And I've got a new bumper with OEM lip and Laguna Splitter coming from Browner.
Then it's engine bay lean up time......
Here's some pics of how it's looking now.

A few pics of the parts I've got waiting to be put on,
The front and rear lip, are both getting a respray before I put them on though.
And here's some of what I did this afternoon.
For the headlights, I used 600.1200,1500 and 2000 grit Wet & Dry,
then compounded them using Meguiars Ultimate compound.
I'm well happy with how they came out.
Nissan Micra Boot Strut.

Also sprayed up my cusco strut mounts, but didn't take pics of them, yet.
Should have them mounted tomorrow, so I'll post pics then.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Spent some time cleaning engine bay today.
And changed a few of the old rusty bolts for new shiny 1's.
Got a lot more to do yet,but it's a start at least.
Then I put together my newly sprayed Cusco round bar Strut braces
And mounted them.
Also, burnt my shoulder to a crisp, but hey I aint complaining, cos this weather is GREAT.
Cheers,
Al.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
As a few of ye know I ran into problems on Sunday. 30 mins before Pudgey and me had to meet at the convoy meeting point in Athlone. We were out in it in the morning, and on the way back to Pudgeys, we started getting smoke coming out the dash!!!!! And water all over the passo footwell.
Found out through loads of texts, that the Heater Matrix had gone..It would have been grand if it had happened a few hours earlier, cos we would've had the time to fix it, to let me drive down to the meet.
So, as you can Imagine I was like a f****n bull. Cos I bust my balls all last week, trying to get jobs done for the Meet. So if I was a bit short with any of ye, then sorry.
Big thanks goes out to Presogti for the lift down and the Craic we had in the car.
Anyway, got it temporary fixed on Tuesday (PIDGEON). To let me drive home via Cavan.
I've already got a new Matrix lined up. Just got to get it fitted now, along with my new dash.
Anyway, here's some pics of what jobs I got done, and of how she's looking now.
new m1nty m1nt Carpet going in.
Custom made 4 point Roll Cage in.
Standard Alloys painted Signal Orange
Centre caps back on and Rays Extended nuts fitted.
Livesport Spoiler, Tinted rear lights and my Powergetter Exhaust back on.
Then finally yesterday after a much needed sleep, and the car had another wash. Mounted the front bumper properly above the wheel arches.
Don't know if it can be seen in the pics, but the front bumper has been cut, flushed and resprayed all ready for when I get my front mount.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Well, just a small update.
Not done that much lately, cos I had family over from Scotland. And I was flat out doing the Touristy thing.
Changed the rear lights back to standard ones for the moment.
Got a new Windscreen fitted, and what a difference this makes.
And I did a diagnostics test and was getting code 52 (Knock sensor)
So, when I investigated this further, I found that the wire coming from the loom had been cut.(See Pics).
Now just got to figure out how to to fix this.
I'm hoping to have my front and rear lips back by the end of the week,
and also to get over to Cavan next Wednesday, to get my Heater Matrix replaced, and another couple of small jobs.

Re: Dutch's V Starting Feb 12
Well,
Time for another update, as I've had a few things done.
Left mine early on Wednesday to head over to Pidgeons in Cavan, and with his and PudgeyMac's help, we got my old 97 passo airbag dash out, (it had a real ugly hole in it; and that was filled with a non working volts gauge!!)
The dash had to come out anyways cos I was needing to replace my heater Matrix, that died on my way to the Big Meet!!
And, I had bought a new dash already anyway from Browner a few months ago, with the plan to do away with the old one.
So, we set about doing that 1st...
When Pidgeon took over, after I had all the compartments and centre controls/dials etc out. Pudge and me started to take off my doors and wings, cos I was replacing them as well. All went well, and we got the wings swapped over no probs.
We hit a snag though, when we removed my steering column with the plan to put my new 98 one in, that I got from Browner as well. The Indicator stalks, cock spring and Steering Wheel changed over no probs, but turns out the bottom of a 98 column is different from a 97 one.!!!!!! So, now I've worked out there's 3 different columns for the Glanza.
***So, just a heads up for anybody buying one, make sure you see and send a pic 1st.***
After this, Pudge and I took the new and old doors off. And I started to take off the Door cards, mirrors, switches etc; then we called it a day.
On Thursday after a great sleep, Pidgeon went about putting in the new heater matrix, and new dash. And I went about the doors, then we put the new 1's on. Finally, I installed my Child Friendly Passo Sun Visor with Jap Sticker, Pillar Pod and new Boost Gauge.
Overall, I'm well happy with how it's looking, nice and clean; with nothing mounted on the dash.
I just need to give the dash a good clean and polish and it'll be grand.
Only thing I'm looking for now, is a 52mm Oil Pressure Gauge, to go into my Pillar Pod.
And some new hinges, as mine have got play in them now, due to the old doors being f****d.
So here's the pics.
Before we started.
Old Dash,
Dash out,
Doors off,
Pudgey hard at it on the Donor Car, Go on sham!!
Wings off.
Pidgeon hard at it, go on Lad Basically!!
New wings on.
Cuppa & Smoke break!!!
Trying to figure out the boor buzzer.
Sun Visor.
Pillar Pod & Boost Gauge.
New Dash.
And Finally.............Today, after a wash.
Getting T cut, Polished & Waxed tomorrow, if it stays dry.
